Talk to Cassie

Posts from the ‘Cassie the Blog Dog and Friends’ category

babycassie 7I’ve loved Christmas ever since I was a pup and I was competition for the star on top of the tree.

I wish it could be Christmas every day.   A few more ‘Christmas Days’ scattered throughout the year would be good, so we can all enjoy ripping open presents more often.  I know we have our birthdays but, if we celebrated present opening day regularly, I might not get quite so carried away.

It was torture leading up to Christmas this year because Ollie and I knew there was something mouthwateringly delicious underneath the tree.   It turned out that the wonderful smell was coming from one of my presents … Gourmet Chicken and Cheese sausages.  Slurp.

Where is that wonderful smell coming from?

I was so excited after unwrapping and eating one of my scrumptious sausages, I accidentally ripped an antler off my new reindeer toy … and swallowed it.  I regret that doing that now, but I am sure it will come out in the wash … if you catch my drift.

With a new avian friend after I accidentally swallowed my reindeer’s antler ..

Ollie found Christmas Day too exhausting and slept through most of it after he had stuffed himself full of chicken.  So, I thought I should try out his present for him, a buzzy bee and I can highly recommend getting one, I found the bee to be a very entertaining toy.

After I found out the fat balls were for the birds and not for me, it was time for a nap with my reindeer.

I had a great day.  Roll on next Christmas.  I hope you enjoyed your day, as much as I did mine.

With love fromCassie the Blog Dog

I’m a bit worried.  IMG_2913

I think Ollie might be turning into a crazed killer.  To look at him now, you wouldn’t think so.

Is this a killer cat?

He has always been against any sort of violence towards anybody, let alone our immediate neighbours.  I certainly wouldn’t dream of chasing any of the neighbourhood cats, unless they were upsetting Ollie or Misha, but actually wanting to kill something is completely abhorrent to me.

Anyway, I went for a walk yesterday and saw Ollie.  He was so engrossed in what he was doing he didn’t even hear me coming.  When he finally did manage to look up, licking his lips, I was horrified to see that he was eating a decapitated vole.  I don’t want to think about where its head might have gone.

Ollie has always been a pacifist

Yes, I know, Ollie is a cat and cats chase mice, but you need to understand that this is someone who has been a member of Felines for Peace and Justice since his second booster vaccination, so rodent slaughter is totally out of character.  I didn’t think he could actually catch anything, let alone eat it and he’s already eating four sachets a day at home anyway.  Perhaps he is going through some sort of feline mid-life crisis?

Cats will always chase mice …

Whatever his problem is I will be keeping a very close eye on him from now on.

I’m watching you

Many of my friends think it’s odd that my best friend’s a cat because they believe that cats are for chasing and research does show that dogs have been chasing cats for centuries.  dog chasing cat

Although chasing anything that runs is very appealing, I am a pacifist … except when it comes to the postman and I just can’t help myself.

I was bought up with three cats, so I learnt to respect them pretty quickly, as well as finding out where my place was in the pecking order.

My feline family Misha, Ollie and Tilly

Tilly was the oldest and was always the boss and she really couldn’t stand me at first but she grew to love me as I did her.  We all miss her every day.

Snoozing with Tilly

Misha and I have a mutual respect for each other.  She is from Bengal, very beautiful but very aloof and spends most of her time looking for something, but can never remember what it was.  I hope she finds it one day.

Ollie and I  have always been very close and I think of him as my brother.  To me, that it is perfectly normal.  When I was a baby, he was the only one that wanted to play with me.  He still does.

Paw fighting with Ollie

Like many people, he can be very lazy and thinks he knows everything but he doesn’t.  I told him it was going to rain the other day and it was best not to go out.  He poo-pooed the idea and went out anyway, crashing back through the cat flap after the monsoon rain started, soaking wet and blaming everybody else for letting him go out.

Still, with all his faults, he is my bestie and always will be.

We have had great walk and I eventually managed to run out of my ridiculous red jumper which is two sizes to big.

img_5818

My mum knows she is not exactly down with the kids with what she wears these days and I know I am definitely not down with the dogs when she makes me wear jumpers and coats.  They do nothing for my street cred, but I don’t seem to have a choice when it gets really chilly. But things could be worse … she could dress me like this …

Poor Shih Tzu

It’s chicken for lunch.  What more can a girl ask for on her birthday?  Then we’ll chill in front of the fire this afternoon and I am looking forward to getting my teeth into some of my presents.

Ollie and I will have a fireside chat or two …

I have had good day so far and I really don’t mind my birthday jumper too much.

I went to say good morning to Clara (third from the right) and the girls.

img_5791

I wasn’t very keen on them when they first moved into the field right next door to our garden but we are all very good friends now.

Clara told me that they were all waiting to meet Mr Radical-P.   I thought she was talking about a bovine hip-hop artist, but apparently he is going to be giving them all babies soon.  I was a bit shocked because they are only babies themselves really, but Clara said they all had to be 60% to 65% of the average mature weight of the cowherd before they can breed.  So they are eating for England. Anyway,  I am glad they moo-ved in.
